Tisíc skoro let přeletělo přes moji hlavu... tak úctyhodný věk určuje památné lípě text nápisu, který je umístěný na balvanu před ní. Těžko staletí spočítat, ale o dlouhém životě památného stromu vypovídá mohutný kmen s otevřenou dutinou, rozložité silné větve i vysoká koruna, která už z dálky vyniká nad střechami klokočovských domů. Lípa byla urostlým stromem už ve 14. století, kdy ještě po vesnici nebylo ani stopy, naopak všude okolo byly lesy. Lípa prý tehdy ukazovala začátek bezpečné cesty přes mokřiny. V té době vládl v Čechách Karel IV. a pověst vypravuje, že roku 1370 pobýval na svém hradě Lichnici. Odtud se jednou vydal k léčivým pramenům do Modletína a cestou se rozhodl zastavit k odpočinku u pěkné lípy. Kázal družině zastavit koně, sám usedl ve stínu voňavé koruny - proto se lípa v Klokočově nazývá Královská nebo Karlova.

      Almost thousand years have passed over my head... this age is ascribed to the memorable linden tree in the text on a boulder placed in front of it. It would be difficult to count the centuries, but the long life of the memorable tree can be guessed from the stately trunk with an open cavity, the spreadintg strong branches and the high crown, which can be seen above the roofs of the Klokočov houses, from far away.
      Already in 14th century the linden tree was a strong tree, when there was, as yet, no trace of a save path through the wetlands. At tha time Karel IV. was King of Bohemia and the legend goes that in 1370 he spent some time in his castle Lichnice. From there he once went to the curative springs in Modletín and decided to stop for a rest under a pleasant linden tree. He told his train to stop their horses and he himself sat down in the shade of the tree crown - and that is why the linden tree in Klokočov is called Royal or Karel´s.
